News Flash!
Yes, I know this is short on the heels of my last newsletter, but I wanted to let all of you know how well the steelhead runs are progressing. Wow! Last year by the
4th of July we had 7,898 steelhead come over The Dalles Dam. As of yesterday we have had 19,828 come over. That's what, two and a half times the number of last
year? We haven't seen numbers like this in a long time!
Many of you that fished with me last year experienced some incredible days on the Deschutes River for summer steelhead and it sure looks like things are shaping up
to be another banner year.
I am all but through with my sturgeon fishing trips for the year and I'm anxious to start spending some time wading the cool waters of the Deschutes in all of its scenic
and relaxing glory. I know that many of you have trips already booked, and you should look forward to some fun and productive days, but I am so anxious to get
started fishing for steelhead that I will offer some special rates for the early season in July!
I am still anticipating setting up camp in mid to late July, so these will all be day trips and the rates will be very appealing. Get at least 3 people and preferably 4+ and
give me a shout for available dates and cheap rates. I can't afford to 'give away' these trips as expenses remain the same, but be assured they will be very reasonable
and it will provide a chance for you to get away for the day and kick off the season with a fun time on the river.
It looks like we will be getting a warming trend into the 90°'s starting very soon and that means shorts and T-shirts. I certainly have been looking forward to that, how
'bout you?
